Bold and daring deserve equally impressive and inspired home technology for this award-winning Dunedin home perched above Saint Clair beach. With an emphasis on showcasing the homeowner’s art, this home automation system was designed to provide, not only a comfortable, entertaining and convenient living experience but the flexibility to curate her vast art collection, ensuring the art remains an integral part of the living space and enhancing the magic of the entire home.
Intended to be visually and audibly interactive, a projector in the stairwell projects artwork onto the pre-cast concrete and audio artwork is played over the speakers both inside and outside the house. An RGBW colour-changing light features in the main entrance and is controlled by smart switches. Audio artwork and sculptured lighting are scheduled to turn on at predetermined times each day (if the owner is away and the alarm is armed, this does not turn on).
When the front doorbell is pressed, any music that is currently playing is interrupted by the owner’s audio art indicating visitors at the door. At the press of the ‘Art Scene’ button, all feature lights on the artwork turn on and the projector is activated. Along with these unique features, the entire home can be controlled by touchscreens or remotely via a smart device.
