Audio Visual & Automation Manager – Queenstown and Wanaka
Permanent, Full-Time | Leadership Role

The Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Audio Visual & Automation Manager to oversee the delivery of high-end residential and commercial projects across the Queenstown Lakes District. This hands-on leadership role combines technical expertise, project management, and client engagement. Live and work in one of NZ’s most beautiful regions while leading a high-performing team delivering premium AV & smart automation solutions.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and mentor technicians and subcontractors
- Manage end-to-end AV and automation projects
- Oversee installation, programming, and commissioning (Control4, KNX, C-Bus, networking)
- Ensure projects are on time, on budget, and to the highest standard
- Build lasting relationships with clients and contractors
What You’ll Bring:
- 3–5+ years’ AV/automation experience, with leadership or PM skills
- Proficiency in Control4, KNX, or C-Bus (or similar)
- Strong IP networking and integrated systems knowledge
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Full, clean NZ driver’s licence

Senior Audio Visual Technician – Queenstown
Permanent, Full-Time
Custom Digital is a well-established Wanaka-based audio visual and home automation company, delivering high-end residential projects throughout the Southern Lakes region. Due to strong growth in Queenstown, we are looking for an experienced Senior Audio Visual Technician to be based in Queenstown and take ownership of our local workload.
This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who can work independently, lead installations on site, and consistently deliver a high standard of workmanship.
What You’ll Do:
- Leading installation and commissioning of residential AV and home theatre systems
- Advanced fault-finding and troubleshooting across AV and networking systems
- Work with automation and control systems such as Control4, KNX, C-Bus or similar (training and upskilling provided)
- Taking ownership of projects on site, ensuring quality and efficiency
- Working directly with clients, builders, and other trades
- Maintaining excellent site presentation, documentation, and safety standards
What You’ll Bring:
- Proven experience as a senior or lead Audio Visual Technician
- Strong knowledge of residential AV and home theatre
- Solid understanding of networking and IT infrastructure
- Some exposure to automation or control systems
- Ability to work autonomously and make sound technical decisions
- Strong problem-solving skills, pride in workmanship and attention to detail
- Professional, client-focused communication
- Reliable, organised, and deadline-driven
- Full NZ driver’s licence
